Christmas @ SCC

CHRISTMAS FAIR

This annual event usually takes place the first Saturday in December. We sell decorated wreaths, delicious baked treats, unique handcrafted gifts, mugs, and much more. Proceeds from the Fair support Stowe Community Church and our ongoing service to the community.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE

Usually on the second Sunday of December we offer our annual Blue Christmas service at 4:30 pm. This is designed as a service of remembrance for those who have lost loved ones. Special readings, prayers, Christmas music and candle lighting are included.

OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS CAROL SING

Early in Advent we offer our annual Christmas Carol Sing-Along. Well-known religious and secular music selections are included: audience members get to choose their favorites to sing from the sheet music provided, fun for children and adults. Karen Miller accompanies on the Steinway grand piano, conducted by Greg Morrill.

HANDEL’S “MESSIAH”

We offer a singalong version, with orchestra, of portions of Handel’s Messiah every year, usually in mid-December. This is a popular event so come early to find a seat!

“THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER”

We often do a children’s Christmas Pageant in December. In 2019 we offered three performances of a musical version of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”, directed by our own Director of Christian Education, Taryn Noelle.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES

December 24 @ 5 PM, 8 PM and 11 PM

Each of these services follows a “Lessons & Carols” format inspired by the annual Christmas Eve Service at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, England. Our 5 pm service is especially designed for families with children. At all three services we sing “Silent Night” by candlelight. If you plan to join us, come early, because we do fill up!
